A Lifelong Passion for Music

  • Felix Houtman (2004) is a Dutch film composer and music producer with a deep passion for storytelling through sound. His musical journey began in 2011 when he started playing drums, a skill he honed over seven years while performing in and around Capelle aan den IJssel. However, his curiosity and drive pushed him toward new creative challenges.

From Drums to Digital Composition

  • In 2018, Felix discovered the world of music production. What started as simple loop-making on his laptop quickly turned into a full-fledged passion. Determined to refine his skills, he immersed himself in self-study before taking the next step: formal education. In 2020, he was accepted into a music program in Rotterdam, where he gained theoretical knowledge, industry connections, and hands-on experience over three years.

Film Scoring & Industry Recognition

  •  Felix has developed a unique style, often characterized by melancholic, cinematic soundscapes. His versatility allows him to work across different genres, scoring short films and documentaries that have premiered in the Netherlands and internationally at film festivals. To sharpen his skills in composing for film and media, he began rescoring trailers, short films, and advertisements—a move that paid off when his work gained over 130,000 views on YouTube, catching the attention of industry professionals.

Mixing, Mastering & Collaboration

  • Although his main focus is composition, Felix is also experienced in mixing and mastering. He has contributed to several projects, including mastering Viatr’s EP ‘Memory Interior’. While he does not specialize in these areas, he remains open to collaborations where his expertise can add value.

New Chapter: Conservatory & Future Projects

  • In June 2023, Felix graduated with a secondary vocational education degree. In September 2024, he took the next step in his career by enrolling in Composition for Film & Games at ArtEZ Conservatory in Enschede. Despite his studies, he is actively seeking new projects and is available for composition, mixing, and mastering work.                       “It is inspiring to work with people from around the world and to listen to the stories they have to tell—both personally and musically.”
